Its pretty obvious that we love having fun here at Elizabeth Sarah Collections, and we strive to make these blogs posts both enjoyable and interesting (if you're going to read we at least hope its something good, right?!). But, on a serious note, we want to address an issue we have recently corrected and want our customers to know that we truly have your best interests at heart.
Some of you have recently contacted our team about an issue with your electroplated jewelry fading, or the appearance of the gold or silver rubbing off. This can be due to a few reasons. People who wear the electroplating next to bare skin all the time may have this problem due to the acidity in their skin. While everyone's natural skin chemistry varies, as explained in the About Our Products section, one's natural acidity can change the look and composition of metal, no matter how well you take care of your jewelry. A.K.A it just happens.
The other reason is that while we advise our customers not to wear the pendant while swimming, bathing or exercising this can happen anyways even when it is unintentional, or "just this one time". This can shorten the life of the electroplating, mainly when swimming in salt water. Our jewelry is meant to last, and while we want our customers to have these pieces to wear throughout their lifetime, we acknowledge that we had to do something so this could be possible.
We're excited to announce that we have found that the best way to resolve this issue, and that from today forward, all Elizabeth Sarah Collections pieces that are electroplated will have a clear, protective coating called ProtectaClear.
This product is specifically designed to protect jewelry from any abrasive or corrosive factors. It's a super hard coating that resists acids in the skin, abrasion and resistance against rough cloth or clothing in general when the jewelry is worn frequently. (Imagine a clear nail polish that never lets your favorite color chip!)
ProtectaClear is even used on brass railings on boats in salt water, automotive parts and stainless steel appliances. When ProtectaClear is baked on over electroplating, it is completely invisible and, if you put a non-protected piece of jewelry next to one with the coating, you can't tell which is which.
However, we still recommend that you follow our metal-specific guidelines for the care and cleaning of your jewelry in order for you to enjoy your pieces for the rest of time.
