This blog is brought to you in consideration of Small Business Saturday which takes place just after the notorious Black Friday sales. We want our customers far and wide to know how much we appreciate you for supporting Elizabeth Sarah Collections.
Whether you're a new customer, old customer, wholesale account, or anyone we've collaborated with for gallery shows and pop-up shows, we appreciate you more than you know for your trust, loyalty, and ongoing encouragement.
Here's to all the small businesses out there that make what we do worth it!
Little do most people know that creativity is the foundation of small business.
The meaning of creativity isn’t always about creating art or Pinteresting DIY activities, but it’s about exploring and doing things outside of your comfort zone and pushing boundaries.
Whether it’s a family accounting firm or a hometown clothing boutique, the idea of a small business is that it’s services or goods are catered to a smaller group of individuals - that even big corporations may not reach.
It gives folks the chance to have their own ideas brought to life, in any way they like.
Small businesses give those who may not fit the college to corporate mold an opportunity to find their own niche and gain real life experience as they build their own business from the ground up.
Of course, self-run companies are difficult to start and maintain especially when Amazon or Walmart offers nearly every product or service you didn’t even think you needed.
Then there’s high end designer companies like Apple who dominate their field and tower over their competitors because they simply have the capital to do so.
But small businesses can be more comfortable for many people, if run correctly. The fact that there’s someone in your neighborhood with a quality product which their businesses reputation is built on, and a customer base that you trust, is what keeps small businesses going.
In this society, it can also be hard for people to get to a shopping mall in general. Some may feel overwhelmed with too many options, unsure of the quality of the product or service. Big corporations seem trustworthy because their names are known far and wide, but it doesn't always work like that with their employees. Some may just be in it for the commission or as a necessary job to provide a way of life, but their hearts aren't always in it and customer service can lack or come off as cold.
I mean, honestly, how many times have you walked into a department store and just felt...eh..?
On the other hand, a locally run small business exists because someone has a passion and decided to build their own business based around it. In any small-town store you can feel the love and appreciation just walking through the doors, and also feel the value it adds to the community.
And that’s what we at Elizabeth Sarah Collections strive to do for our friends, family and neighbors in North Florida.
Our team hand designs, produces and sells quality hand made and one of a kind jewelry that can stand up to many high end brands. Using hand picked gemstones and local materials like sea shells and shark teeth paired with fine metals, our pieces are made right out of Elizabeth’s home studio in Atlantic Beach.
While we ship worldwide and have a customer base that goes beyond North Florida, and in fact have many loyal international customers, the size of our operation is still small enough to be maintained in our quaint studio and run by just three people (and a pug.)
So when you consider shopping small, know that the biggest hearts are are behind every small business.
