2019 was filled with love, laughter, and hustle. They say in business there's always peaks and valleys and that sometimes you win and sometimes you learn. Well, in my opinion, our team has definitely done both.
If you don't already know, artist Elizabeth Walker isn't only coming up with small batch and one of a kind jewelry designs - she's running a global company and is always on the go.
Whether she's managing design and production, meeting clients and wholesale accounts, redesigning the website, or planning new marketing strategies, ESC Headquarters is running 24/7. With her husband, Philip, and myself behind her, our team is unstoppable and is constantly learning and adapting as the company grows.
The drive to succeed and make Elizabeth Sarah Collections the best brand it could be always keeps our team in go mode.
A huge inspiration and essential part of business this year was bringing the hustle on the road. Together, Elizabeth and Philip traveled the majority of the summer months with jewelry and art in hand. They traveled through over twenty states this year, setting up pop up and gallery shows along the way.
The audience gained from previously untapped regions of the U.S. has created a whole new market for Elizabeth Sarah Collections. It has also led to more opportunities and annual invitations to keep traveling and displaying the jewelry line in other states.
The flip side of traveling and booking successful shows is that wherever Elizabeth and Philip went also involved nature. Anyone who has ever talked to Elizabeth knows she's a sucker for a good lakefront sunset, walk in the woods, or anything related to being outside. Her environment and love for Mother Nature sparks the creative vision behind every single piece in her jewelry line that is made in her North Florida studio.
Of course we are always thankful for old and new clients who have supported Elizabeth Sarah Collections, and especially those who helped Elizabeth win the award of Best Jewelry Maker by Folio Magazine.
It was a huge shock to find out she had been nominated and made it through the first round of voting, and as the word spread, the support poured into the online voting polls.
In mid-November the Northeast Florida magazine released the results and, yah you guessed it, she WON! It was a huge honor to have her name and title recognized and our team is forever thankful to our community for contributing their time to voting!
Another major milestone was met in 2019 when the team realized we have shipped orders to every single continent with the exception of Antarctica. To be fair, it's definitely too cold to worry about jewelry in the South Pole, but we'd be more than happy to have representation among the most southern continent!
To have such a diverse and far reaching clientele is an amazing & humbling feeling. Especially when the product is something made by your own two hands that someone, most likely a complete stranger, from across the world is willing to purchase.
Of course, the higher demand created more need for product, therefore more work for us (trust me, I'm not complaining!)
Personally, working as Elizabeth's Assistant Designer and Accounts Manager has given me more business and sales skills than in any other job I have worked.
With the higher volume of online sales and pop-up show schedules, it has given me the opportunity to work more hours, engaging with new accounts and clients. In turn, this gives Elizabeth the chance to spend more time in the studio designing and working on other aspects of the business.
You know you have a great team when the work can be divided equally and each person takes on a role and adapts to new work situations.
2019 was an unbelievable year of growth, but 2020 is looking even better! While our team didn't exactly make New year's resolutions, we made plans. We plan to do more, create more, and take on the world (including Antarctica) one necklace at a time!
