The Elizabeth Sarah Collections team believes in the power of working smarter AND harder.
Especially since Elizabeth Sarah Collections is busier than ever and Elizabeth has expanded her hand crafted jewelry line, there's always work to be done.
If we’re not working overtime, there’s probably something wrong and you should also probably send someone to check on us.
Since she runs her own business, Elizabeth is completely hands on 24/7, 365 days a year. But to help manage things, her husband and independent artist, Philip, and myself also make sure things run smoothly by dividing tasks among us so that no one gets burnt out.
So that we're always available for our customers we also plan our work schedules around what's most important on a weekly basis. Whether it's planning our Black Friday campaign, doing market research for our next trending statement pieces, or just making sure our receipts are filed in time for tax season, our team works on a priority based schedule.
Our customers can find any member of our team at any point during the week running various elements of the jewelry business.
It's not that we want to be separated because we really are the three best amigos and tend to work better together, but sometimes it’s necessary to spread our talents around.
Having team members that specialize in different areas is a plus. While I may be hosting a trunk show, Elizabeth can reach out and meet clients in her studio or work on production and plan new designs for the upcoming season.
This way sales are being made while new pieces are in production, and there's a constant work/sales flow.
If there isn't a trunk show scheduled, then we are still just as productive in the studio. Multi-tasking just happens to be part of our specialty, besides bringing you unique and one of a kind handmade jewelry.
As I've said before, every aspect of the business is run between Elizabeth, Philip and myself. So studio time is usually where most of the behind the scenes and non-instagrammable things happen.
When it comes to inventory, I handle the Excel sheets and uploading products to the website, while Elizabeth is the master behind the product shots, for example.
With each of us working together on different elements of production and website/account management, the day to day tasks of running the business is smoother and more efficient.
Even small tasks, like following up with our wholesale accounts can be done by one of us while the other keeps up with Instagram stories so our loyal customers always know what we're up to.
Philip is also in the mix, and he’s a busy man himself, either hosting an art show, meeting clients, and working on commissions or collaborations with his partner, Mo.
Philip helps tremendously as partner in Elizabeth Sarah Collections, too. He coordinates dual art exhibits, is the man power when we are setting up our displays, and is in charge of the hype-up for all our events.
He's also the one to calm us down when our stress levels are peaking and we just need a laugh or a break to focus on something else. (He usually resorts to forcing a mandatory pool break or lunch feast just in case we’re just hangry.)
We’ve each figured out how we work best and how we incorporate our interests and talents for the better of Elizabeth Sarah Collections.
Being more business-minded than artistic, for example, I can follow Elizabeth’s creative lead while still managing more administrative details. (These blogs are about as creative as I can get, no thanks to AP English)
Meanwhile, once Elizabeth’s creative juices start flowing, there’s no stopping her from design and production until her idea becomes a reality in the form of handmade, fine jewelry.
When it's all said and done and the work day is being wrapped up, it's a great feeling to look at what we did and look forward to the next day of production, pop up shows and more.
Tell us how you showcase your specific talents and interests in the workplace, or let us know if we have any in common!
