At Elizabeth Sarah Collections we aim to create one of a kind jewelry with a strong sense of attention to detail in our material and designs. Not only is all of the jewelry handmade by the designer and her small team, but Elizabeth herself is completely involved in creating all of the packaging, marketing and everything in between.
When you're an entrepreneur, you must be able to effectively run your handmade jewelry business and have pride in the materials you use, as well as all matters of your company. When people ask about product pricing, it sometimes may come as a surprise just how many factors are involved in the price of just one necklace.
In this blog, we want to give insight and educate our clients and future customers about each step in our daily routine and what exactly makes up our products, as well as our design process.
The gemstones we use are from all over the world, and of course range in price based on where they're from and their quality. Elizabeth uses only high quality semi-precious and precious gemstones. Since no two gemstones are the same, you are guaranteed that your signature piece is truly one of a kind. Every piece is designed around the careful choosing of gemstones for their texture, color, brilliance, cut and how they match with other gems that might be on the same necklace.
When it comes to solid gold versus gold plated sterling silver, the price more than doubles. While solid gold jewelry is a costly and precious commodity, gold plated sterling silver is the next best option for those who want gold jewelry. At Elizabeth Sarah Collections, we use a heavy gold plated chain (otherwise known as gold vermeil) as opposed to a base-metal, which is less expensive. Also the wear on base metal (such as brass) does not last nearly as long or as well as gold plated, and tends to cause more allergic reactions.
The same goes for our silver pieces, which are high quality sterling silver versus a cheaper, base metal. The quality of our chain holds up against the test of time, as does our electroplated pieces.
Our best selling sea glass and shark tooth necklaces are also one of a kind pieces, since no tooth or piece of glass is the same in color, texture, or size. While it may seem like we can walk around on the beach all day finding these shoreline treasures, it's actually hours of our week that we spend just finding the teeth and sea glass. (Don't get me wrong - this is our favorite part of work!) However, just because we do this often doesn't mean we always come back with handfuls of sharks teeth and sea glass. Sometimes we may only find one or two pieces in an entire day, or, if the tide is right, we can leave the beach with a few plastic bags full. Still, after many hours spent searching the shoreline, the necklace still needs to be designed, prepped for electroplating, and then finished in the studio by Elizabeth. This entire process can take up to several weeks for just one necklace, but it makes for a unique, special piece.
When you ship out hundreds of the same product, not as much care goes into the production. In our studio, only one person is working on one necklace at a time, and the only replication in our design comes in our small batch and limited edition collections. The craft and design technique which we use at Elizabeth Sarah Collections guarantees quality jewelry and a personal touch, along with customer service directly from our team.
From our hand-stamped boxes and bags, with logos that Elizabeth came up with herself, to our in-house marketing and photography (holla iPhone peeps), the team behind Elizabeth Sarah Collections is hands-on in every way.
Being able to employ a team and run a business is a goal many people set out to accomplish, but few may have the resources to do so. Employing locally based staff is in many ways crucial, as we are able to speak directly with our customers at any time. Rather than using tech centers overseas, you can find the team's personal information here on our website, and we encourage people to reach out with any and all questions.
To our customers, our handmade jewelry is more than just the product itself. It’s the exclusivity of being the only one in the world wearing that signature piece. It’s made for you and only you, with a personal story close to the designers heart.
