Everyone has a special place where they feel right at home, even quite possibly far away from home.
For Elizabeth and her husband Philip, it's Aspen, Colorado. This town is more than just a place to vacation and ski for the Walkers. Coincidentally, it's where they both moved to from separate parts of the country as young adults. It was here, they met, fell in love and lived for their first few years of marriage, before moving to Florida.
Elizabeth had been vacationing in Aspen and the surrounding mountains her whole life, as her grandfather had been going every year since 1952. For her, an annual family road trip in mom's car was always something to look forward to.
Two of Elizabeth's siblings, Erick and Jenny also currently live in Colorado, and her other family members aren’t too far away in Wisconsin and Chicago.
Philip grew up with parents who loved traveling the country to ski, and eventually they started the New Smyrna Beach Ski Club. Since there's no snow in Florida, Colorado was always like a second home to him, and snowboarding came as naturally as surfing for this Florida boy.
Aspen is the place Elizabeth and Philip began their professional careers as artists, and is a major inspiration for their work.
Every January Elizabeth and Philip make the frosty journey to Aspen to see family and old friends, reliving old times while making new memories.
Its a recurring theme for the Walker's to also network and make new connections everywhere they travel too. You can definitely say they always mix pleasure with a little bit of business thrown in.
On this particular trip they took a break from hitting the slopes and ended up at their favorite art galleries they used to frequent when living in downtown Aspen.
Back in 2001, Elizabeth and Philips first date was a tour of these galleries, sharing their love for art and the true connection it created between them. Meeting with the gallery owners on this trip was like a dream come true, with future plans to curate pop ups with both Elizabeth's jewelry line and Philip's art (So stay tuned!!)
This rocky mountain high that the Walker's have been riding won't end soon, with more memories and friendships made every year. Making time for themselves to enjoy a familiar place that allowed them to grow as artists and individuals, they look forward to visiting Aspen every year.
