Where to next is a question we often get asked. This time our most recent adventure was to Atlanta, Georgia, less than 24 hours after getting back in town from Aspen, Colorado.
The latest travel/work expedition took place this past weekend at the Atlanta Gem Show. Instead of staying in a hotel downtown, Elizabeth and Philip decided to tie in a weekend camping trip. They hitched up the car and took their new RV to Stone Mountain where they camped every night in the beautiful Georgia countryside after visiting the gem show.
Many people ask where and how we get all of our semi-precious and precious gemstones for our one of a kind and small batch jewelry.
For those who aren't familiar, gem shows are like the trade and market shows you find in almost every other industry. Made up of the middle men who purchase gems directly from the mining source before they are cut down, drilled and cleaned, jewelry designers and distributors come from all over to purchase their materials here.
What they thought was going to be an easy 6 hour drive from Atlantic Beach turned into a. 8.5 hour trek each way, with a few unexpected stops all while getting 5 (yes, 5) mpg. The only one who did mind this was Puggy Sue, go figure.
After missing the entire first day of the gem show, Elizabeth, Philip and Puggy made the best of the rest of the day they had left and were greeted with an epic camping spot and perfect weather for sightseeing.
The next day they made it to the show and Elizabeth scored tons of great new gemstones to incorporate in our future collections. Always inspired by the nature that surrounds her, many of the stones she picks have meaning behind them and are flawlessly designed to represent a special place in her heart.
