Preparing for each new season is exciting, a little scary, and motivating all at the same time. As a designer, Elizabeth studies which styles work and which don't, what color combinations and metals are appropriate for the season, popular gemstones, etc. Since the holidays are approaching, this blog is about how the team has been designing, creating and working overtime to prepare for the upcoming and anticipated fall and holiday season.
At Elizabeth Sarah Collections, creating handmade, one of a kind jewelry is something we pretty much have down-pat. Predicting the latest trends and accounting for long-lost styles that suddenly became "hip" again? Now even for us that's sometimes hard to do.
Pretty much everyday, I hear Elizabeth say "If you cant figure it out just read my mind." Now this is usually easier said than done, but we've pretty much learned how to be so in sync with each other that most of the time, I know exactly what Elizabeth is thinking and what I need to do before she even tells me. That's what you get when you put two business-minded best friends together.
But back to staying on trend, we obviously can't predict the market as easily as we can predict each other's drink order, and what high profile fashion designers will declare "in or out" on the drop of a hat. However, by sticking with our best selling and classic designs, we re-invent our refined styles and patterns to fit all the seasonal trends, that women of any age from around the world can feel classy and sophisticated while wearing.
Beginning in July is when we really consider it to be the the holidays (hence the title of this blog, Christmas in July), and since the months of October-December seem to fly by, we have to consider our fall jewelry line mid-summer. We base our designs by observing past and current trends, and what might be the new look for the season. But making jewelry isn't always just about gemstones and metal. We also have to consider the newest American "holiday" Black Friday/Cyber Monday and prepare inventory, ads, and marketing strategies that coincide with the biggest sales weekend of the year. Even as much as going on the local news, as Elizabeth was invited to do two years go, to promote the business and share her story is all part of running Elizabeth Sarah Collections.
A typical day in the office involves our two-woman assembly line designing and producing new pieces, photographing and managing inventory, and making sure our website is up to date with our current collection. When it comes to planning for the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, all of this is happening on overdrive and we love every busy moment. Scheduling trunk shows, arranging meetings, fulfilling custom orders that need to be here before birthdays and holidays, ordering material before the holiday rush, and scheduling in our own family time are all other components we have to consider and take into account all before October as well.
The most exciting time of the year is almost upon us, and we want to thank everyone that has supported us while awaiting our latest styles and small batch collections. Our jewelry is made with love for our craft, consideration for precious and semi-precious gemstones and a passion for style that never fades.
Tell us your favorite colors to rock this season!
