This past week we hit the road with some of our best friends and took on one of the greatest cities on the west coast, San Francisco.
While a few of us already live on the west coast, the majority of us had a travel day right out of the movie :planes trains and automobiles on our journey from Atlantic Beach, Fl.
We hit a few bumps in the road on the way there, (literally) almost knocking the storage bubble off the roof of the car and a not so little beer spill at one of the airport bars. Despite this, we were just happy to have made the first leg of the trip safely and didn't let any of this get in the way of our fun.
Once we finally landed and met up with our west coast friends, we checked into our absolutely wonderful Air B&B on Vallejo Street, right atop the famous Vallejo
Steps. After taking in the breathtaking views of the city from our rooftop deck we headed down the road into Little Italy for some late night food.
We came across an amazing pizza & pasta joint with an even better bartender who gave us awesome recommendations for the city.
We turned in early afterwards, wanting a good night's rest before Napa the next day!
Friday morning we woke up, got ready and walked down those painfully steep but beautiful Vallejo Steps to our Mercedes Sprinter limo waiting for us with champagne, ready to take us into wine country.
The drive alone into Napa was beautiful as we rode through the countryside and saw lush hills lined with wild flowers, vineyards and grazing farm animals.
We were so lucky to be able to spend the whole day tasting some of the most exclusive wines of the region at Duckhorn, Paraduxx and Peju vineyards.
In between wineries we had a great lunch at the Rutherford Grille, in the heart of Napa.
By far though, our favorite winery was Paraduxx, where staff member Tressa was kind enough to give our group a behind the scenes tour of the property and share her knowledge and love for wine making.
Still on a high from our day in Napa, we had just as much fun on the way back into San Francisco.
Dancing to throwback songs and sharing pictures and our favorite memories of the day, we soaked up every minute we had left in the limo, and looked forward to what was in store for us that evening.
Upon arriving back to our B&B we decided on a night in Chinatown, having an authentic dinner, and drinks afterwards at Li Po's, San Francisco's first bar to acquire a liquor license after prohibition and serving up real deal Mai-Tai's. Then we hit Red's, where the people watching was on-point, and it reminded us of our quaint neighborhood bar back home (shout out to Fly's Tie!)
Saturday, we did some sightseeing and headed to Cliff House and the Sutro Baths. We had a lovely lunch with the most amazing views of the Pacific, and walked along the old Sutro Bath House, which now looks like ancient ruins along a beautiful hillside.
Once we got down to the beach after lunch, we ended up doing some unintentional work for Elizabeth Sarah Collections. Myself (Ally), Elizabeth and our friend Tori ended up finding at least a dozen pieces of seaglass, which Elizabeth will soon integrate into our Shoreline Collection!
Stoked on finding this gorgeous glass, the group then headed up to "Lands End" which looked like a forest right out of a fairy tale, with the most gorgeous views of cliffs overlooking the ocean.
Dinner Saturday night was an epic family meal at The Stinking Rose (garlic is probably still seeping out of our pores).
Katie from Maggie McGarry's, a hip Irish bar down the street, took care of our motley crew all night after dinner, and probably fed us too many Fireball shots, but we still love her.
After recovering from Saturday night, Sunday Brunchday took place at the Chubby Noodle, another spot just down the hill from where we were staying. I would literally fly all the way back to San Francisco just to eat here again, and recommend it to anyone in the area.
I mean, the website literally says, "What better way to eat noodles than with E-40 rapping in the background?" and this bunch wouldn't have had it any other way on our last day in the city.
After brunch we went to Fisherman's Wharf to see the sights and famous sea lions, and check out Ghirardelli Square.
Wanting to take it easy for our last night and before our 3am wake up call to catch our plane, our group ended the night with takeout pizza and ramen, and a rooftop soak in the hot tub.
Everyone knows it can be hard traveling with such a big group. This trip only made everyone that much closer. I think its easy to say that we are all grateful to have been a part of such an adventure of a lifetime.
