Times are a-changin’ and there’s certainly a new normal to adapt to as we come face to face with one of the worst pandemics and economic depressions in our lifetime.
"Social distancing" and "flattening the curve" are new terms that have gained worldwide notoriety - and have affected major businesses from concert and sport venues, down to our favorite local watering holes.
This new way of life is a strange concept to us all and no one knows for sure how long it'll last or if there's more waves to come.
But this isn't meant to be a depressing sappy blog, I'm here to tell you how, in the face of this adversity, the Elizabeth Sarah Collections team has to take charge to think outside the box, brainstorm, and adapt in order to survive as a small business.
While baking and home improvements are keeping most of us sane while out of work, we can't just garden and make banana bread forever (although if it brings a paycheck - we're all for it!).
There's a whole new learning curve to adapt to, in terms of our business model and logistics, and being at the forefront of the online sales business we can't afford to be left in the dust.
As said previously, we have seen a significant shift from in-person sales to online, as pop-up and art walk opportunities have been canceled for the time being.
While our studio is still open and the team is taking extra care to sanitize and respectfully maintain distance, we know that we must come up with new and creative ways to reach our global customer base.
By thinking outside the box - and maybe even our comfort zones - Elizabeth is constantly hustling and brainstorming the next move to stay ahead of the game.
Simple comments and small talk via social media have built so many bridges over the years that it’s become an essential mode of communication and customer service.
Customer outreach and engagement has always been a #1 priority between Elizabeth and myself, and now more than ever when people have felt their lowest lows, we have continued to reach out in support of our neighbors and community.
Especially now, when internet is our only reliable way of connecting with others, Elizabeth Sarah Collections is all about opening the lines of communication across all platforms. (But really, if you know Elizabeth, she loves to talk, so this really isn't an issue😉)
Adapting new perspectives and keeping an open mind is what has always allowed Elizabeth and this company to thrive. By keeping the same positive mindset, our team can take the necessary steps to do what it takes to shift our business model.
We've even begun a new initiative by identifying the need and creating a new position for Online Sales Associates. While working from anywhere in the world, this position is designed to create new web-based sales opportunities through social media outreach and word of mouth among potential clients.
We know that the opportunities to grow the brand are there - and we are thankful for the ongoing support during this time - and we intend to keep sharing our passion for fine jewelry.
This isn't the time to get down on yourself or lose faith in our economy, but use the time off to reflect, embrace, and challenge new ways of doing business!
Even though the world is going a little crazy now, we want to keep the sparkle that sets Elizabeth Sarah Collections apart (yes, pun intended), and let our customers know that we are not going anywhere.
