Our #1 online best selling products are our gold and silver electroplated shark tooth necklaces. Now imagine them cast in SOLID GOLD, set with precious gemstones of rubies, diamonds, sapphires and emeralds!
The team has been hiding a secret from you lately, and while we've put out a few teasers, we want to give a bit more insight into what artist Elizabeth Walker has been up to, and what NEW products you can expect to see soon.
But first, let me bring it back to what we're all about - and if this is your first time visiting the website here's an introduction to our current products, style and materials.
Since 2006, Elizabeth Sarah Collections has been designed around handmade one of a kind and small batch jewelry, seen throughout several collections inspired by different memories, places and styles close to Elizabeth's heart.
For the past twenty years, we have focused on the art of wire wrapping, the oldest form of jewelry design, which can't be replicated by machine. The perfection of this technique lies in the manipulation of thin gold and silver wire by hand, wrapping it around chain and gemstones to secure the material as well as adding detail.
Throughout Elizabeth's career she's challenged herself to purchase only enough semi precious and precious gemstones to produce one of a kind necklaces, and you can see unique patterns in the colors, textures and arrangement of gems throughout her designs. Other natural objects like shark teeth, seaglass and sea shells that have been electroplated are incorporated throughout the line.
Well this new collection has been a long time coming and we've taken note - you asked and we listened!
Besides noticing the demand for solid gold products, Elizabeth has always wanted to elevate her line, and continue her education in jewelry design. Her innovative and timeless creations won't be going anywhere, but instead they will be reimagined and made in a new way.
She's always worked with the highest quality materials that still allowed her products to be affordable for many. Knowing that the wire wrapping and electroplating limited her as far as design went, she knew she was ready to learn a new skill that would help reach a broader audience and expand her jewelry line.
Over the past several weeks Elizabeth has been working alongside master jeweler, George Georgallis, who resides here in Northeast Florida. This is an artist who Elizabeth has always respected and looked up to. She is driven to learn the new techniques and master the machinery involved in making more refined and precious, solid gold jewelry.
George is assisting Elizabeth with her vision from concept to creation. To evolve her fine jewelry line, she is extremely grateful for the time, space and creativity that has allowed her to explore this new project.
Elizabeth isn't someone who likes staying in her comfort zone. The thought of being stagnant and not pushing her business to be the best it can be does not resonate with her.
The process of learning and executing a new skill, coupled with the design aspect of creating this ten piece collection is expected to take some time. Elizabeth hand picked ten unique shark teeth from her stash that vary in size and shape. Each tooth, once it's casted and produced in gold, will be designed differently with various precious gemstones, and totally one of a kind.
There''s so much detail being put into each tooth design that Elizabeth finds herself humbled and inspired as she works her way through this new process.
We intend for this blog to be informative as well as keep you in the loop about the newest products.
For those that are wondering about the difference in gold vermeil and solid gold (our current products versus what's to come):
Gold Vermeil is a common type of gold plating, which uses sterling silver as the underlying metal. (Both gold and silver are precious metals.) Gold Vermeil is more hypoallergenic and has a thicker layer of gold than normal goldplating, which is why you'll see it labeled as "fine jewelry."
Solid gold jewelry is the most valuable form of jewelry - whether its 14K, 18K or 24K gold, it is the highest quality type of gold.
Our current electroplated shark tooth necklaces start at $180.00. The new, fine jewelry collection of solid gold and precious gemstones will have a starting price point of $1,200.00 and up.
These necklaces are wearable art, and are produced with the same intention and value that Elizabeth has always put into her jewelry line. It's important to her that her pieces are never mass produced overseas and are made with the utmost care, detail and precise quality control. These elevated standards are what set her fine jewelry apart.
While our current products are made to last a lifetime with minimal wear and tear, we know our customers want to - and do - wear their classic Elizabeth Sarah Collections pieces daily. However, with enough daily wear the plating can slowly rub off.
Solid gold pieces are meant to last many lifetimes over and will ensure your everyday favorite piece will stay shiny, and the metal will never fade away over time.
This will be the first of many blogs to keep you informed of our latest and greatest project, so follow Elizabeth on this journey and stay up to date as she explores this new process!
These new pieces are highly sought after and if you want to preorder or have any additional questions please contact the artist directly.
